One thing I enjoy about driving on the open road are the rare moments that everyone is quiet and I have time to think, ponder or praise the Lord in my own way. On my last trip to Dallas I was blessed with a few moments like that. Here is what stuck with me the most.
My GPS is a life line when I travel. I have no since of direction. I have gotten lost in my own town. Recently. I have lived here almost all of my 30 something years. In school, I learned that North is always up. So mentally, I think north is above my head. I am really that bad. With my gps, I type in where I want to go and I do what it says.
Of course, as in my walk with the Lord, I don't always understand or listen. This means I miss and exit and take a wrong turn. My GPS (like God) faithfully reroutes me on the right path. Sometimes I miss the same exit several times. Did I mention that I am not good at following directions sometimes? It is usually because I am not paying attention or I am moving to fast or slow.
Oh, yes. I do that spiritually as well. I am glad that my God is a god of grace because sometimes I need a few chances to get things right. He doesn't give up on me no matter how directionally challenged I am. He has a plan and a direction for me.
Now, on the latest trip my GPS failed me for the first time. It took me to a very dead end and wanted me to keep going! There was no road, only abandoned rail-road tracks.
I am thankful that God doesn't fail me.Unlike my GPS, he is all knowing and he never leads me astray. I am thankful for that.
