Here are a few things we hope to check out in NOLA! Our time is limited but our wish list is long! *UPDATED with post trip details!
Hotel St. Marie:
The hotel we have reservations at. I did most of my research on where to stay on tripadvisor.com. Real reviews and photos from real people. I ended up booking through priceline but as always I checked my prices through all of my fav booking sites as well as direct from each hotel I was considering.
Update: We absolutely loved this hotel. It was charming, friendly, and the location was great. The balcony overlooking the street was a sweet bonus. They have a coffee shop restaurant, and charming courtyard with a small pool. We ate breakfast at the restaurant. It was a bit pricey but the food was great.

Cafe Du Monde
This one sounds like a must! I have read great reviews, so-so ones and terrible ones but it is a New Orleans must do.
We skipped this one and opted for Cafe Beignet instead.

There are so many restaurant choices in NOLA! We will get to eat a breakfast, dinner, and possibly a lunch. Of course, we will want to eat somewhere kid friendly. I am considering Oceania Grill for dinner ( the menu looks amazing), breakfast at our hotel resturant, or just grabbing something we stumble across. We don't always have the best luck with stumbling on things. It can be very hit or miss.
We ended up eating at Vacherie for breakfast and Oceana Grill for dinner. We had trouble finding Oceana and then we walked right past it. We opted to eat in the courtyard part, and that was lovely. The food was good, the service was great. The kids did not care for the poboys but I loved the crawfish crunch on top of my red fish.

Vacherie- on the first floor Hotel. St. Marie. Limited menu, but good reviews and it may be an easy breakfast option for us.
The Saint Louis Cathedral/ Jackson Square
This was a beautiful spot, no wonder it is the most photographed building in New Orleans. The courtyard was full of fabulous artists and street preformers.
We splurged and took a horse drawn carriage ride. The tour left from and returned to Jackson Square. The tour was full of information. Ghost stories, personal stories, and it stopped for optional drinks outside the "pirate bar".
